Today was sunny and wind-free, so I tried out the new SunOven. I tried some chocolate muffin mix (just add water) in a small loaf pan. I preheated the oven in the sun until it read 275 degrees at 12:51 PM. The outside temp was 41 degrees. I could tell within a few minutes that it was cooking. The temp in the oven continued to climb to a peak of about 315 degrees. These pics were taken at 1:12pm. I left it to cook for one hour. At 1:51 I pulled it out of the oven and it was done but not over-done. I think it was probably done sooner but there was no problem leaving it in for the full hour. Tasted great.
We are near the shortest day of the year so if it's possible to cook now, we can cook anytime. The sun disappears at 4 pm and the temp in the oven started dropping about half hour before that time.
